Two imprisoned women, each a queen of sorts, argue bitterly about how to interpret left-wing ideology. Their armed struggle against society is lost, but far from over. Decades later, one of the women is the last survivor of a three-strong neo- Nazi gang that left a trail of murders across the country. She stands in court, refusing to say a word in a trial of almost biblical proportions. In these two outstanding plays, Jelinek addresses the recent history of terrorism in Germany, each exploring different sets of circumstances and precursory omens.
