GOD DOES NOT NEED YOU

This stinging criticism of religious belief was the beginning of Esther Maria Magnis’ long and unusual journey toward faith and God. It is a journey on which she was forced to deal with many difficult circumstances and events which she describes in detail in this absorbing book.

“Maybe God is a sadist,” she writes, “or a big kid that’s been spoiled and neglected. If, as Christians tell you, God is love, then it’s a love I don’t understand. It’s weirder and harsher than mine.” And yet she dares to believe, even though she never stops questioning her faith. This book is also a reckoning with the Church and its empty rhetoric, with her parents’ generation and its inconsequential philosophizing, but also with society’s blind faith in science.

This book is for Christians and atheists, for everyone who in this day and age still wants to believe in truth and beauty, believe that there are meaningful answers out there to the big questions of life.
