Shortly thereafter, Sophia’s mother, Gordana, from Croatia - with whom Sophia has a strained relationship - shows up unannounced, intending to spend her golden years with her daughter. Naturally, she immediately begins thoroughly interfering in Sophia’s life.

Sophia is suddenly up to her neck in chaos again. But perhaps there’s also a detour to happiness?

Katja Haase

Katja Haase was born in Jever in 1966. Her parents are from East Frisia, and she spent every summer there with her grandmother during her childhood. Despite many trips around the world, she is always drawn back to the North Sea. Today, she lives with her family in Hamburg and works as an author, translator, and editor. Her first novel, Ein Jahr hinterm Deich , was published in 2023.
