A blood-soaked woman is admitted to the psychiatric emergency room in Essen. Forensic psychiatrist Jana Fäller takes on the case, but her patient, who goes by the name Eva, cannot remember anything. The blood on her body belongs to someone else. Jana calls in her friend Elin Akay, a lead detective in the homicide division.
